HAMPTON COMMUNITY POWER AGGREGATION PROGRAM

The Hampton Community Power Aggregation Program is a municipal aggregation program designed to offer competitive choices to eligible consumers as an alternative to the default energy service provided by your local utility. The Program seeks to improve the buying power of its residents and businesses by aggregating consumers to negotiate rates for power supply. The Town seeks to take greater control over energy options, including enhancing the ability to pursue price stability, savings opportunities and the amount of renewable energy procured.

The Town of Hampton is pleased to announce that it has selected First Point Power through a competitive bid process to serve as the supplier for its Program.

(If you are already participating in the Program but would like to switch to a different rate/product. Please process an OPT-IN form.)

You will not notice any change in your electricity service.

You will continue to receive one bill from your local utility. The Program only affects the supply portion of your monthly bill from your local utility and not the delivery portion. You will continue to send your payments to your local utility for processing. Your local utility will continue to deliver your electricity, respond to emergencies, read meters, and maintain the distribution and transmission lines. Reliability and quality of service will remain the same. Furthermore, you will continue to have all existing consumer rights and protections.

If you have received a notification letter

You do not need to take any action to participate in the Program. All Default Service consumers that have received the notification letter and have not opted-out will be enrolled in the Program.

If you have not received a notification letter

Your account was not eligible at the time of the mailing so you will NOT be automatically enrolled. However, you may opt-in at any time by clicking the orange OPT-IN button, filling out and submitting the form, or calling First Point Power at 888-875-1711.

ENROLLMENT CAN TAKE UP TO TWO BILLING CYCLES BEFORE TAKING EFFECT.

Periodically, the Program will send out a notification letter and opt-out card to any consumer that is currently on your local utility’s Default Service rate.

If you have a budget plan or are participating in the state electric assistance program

You will continue to receive those benefits.

If you have solar panels or participate in community solar

You might not benefit from participating in the Program and therefore will NOT be automatically enrolled. Net metering customers may lose certain benefits that only your local utility can provide through Default Service. Net metering consumers should evaluate their net usage before seeking to enroll in the Program.

If you have already chosen a competitive supplier on your own

If you received a notification letter and have already chosen a competitive supplier on your own, you must opt-out of this Program. This will ensure that you continue to receive electricity from that Competitive Supplier. If you wish to leave that Competitive Supplier and join the Program, before opting-in, we suggest that you first verify with that Competitive Supplier that they will not charge you any penalties for leaving their supply service.

If you are a large industrial consumer (100 kW or 500,000 kWh/yr)

You may request to be enrolled in the Program and the supplier may offer the then-current market rate for the product selected rather than the Program rate.

If you do not wish to participate in this program

You may:
1) Opt-out and continue paying your local utility’s Default Service rate; or
2) Opt-out and choose your own Competitive Supplier (if one is available to you).

How to OPT-OUT

Within 30 days of receipt of the notification letter, fill out, sign, and return the enclosed card in the postage paid envelope OR click the OPT-OUT button to the right, then fill out and submit the form.

Any time after enrollment

You can still opt-out with NO CHARGE. It may take a couple of billing cycles before you are back on your local utility’s Default Service.  You may submit an opt-out form by clicking the OPT-OUT button OR calling First Point Power at 888-875-1711 and ask to be placed on your local utility’s Default Service.

Savings not guaranteed

Default Service rates change twice a year or more, depending on rate class. As a result, the Program rate may not always be lower than the Default Service rate. The goal of the Program is to deliver savings over the life of the Program when compared to Default Service. However, such savings and future savings cannot be guaranteed.

No fees

There are no enrollment, early termination, or cancellation fees attached to the Program. However, anyone switching from a contract with a third-party supplier may be assessed penalties or early termination fees by that supplier. Consumers should verify terms before switching.
